IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT ENTERING JAPAN FOR
The 17th ASCPaLM 2022

New entry of foreign nationals into Japan under the supervision of receiving organizations (Our congress) is allowed!

New Entry of foreign nationals

Based on the New Border Measures (30), Measures for Resuming Cross-Border Travel | Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (mofa.go.jp) from June 10, 2022, foreign nationals who apply for new entry into Japan based on either of the following categories (1), (2) or (3) below are regarded as those with "special exceptional circumstances" and are allowed for new entry into Japan in principle, if the receiving organizations (The 17th ASCPaLM 2022) complete prescribed applications in the Entrants, Returnees Follow-up System (ERFS).
(1) Foreign nationals newly entering Japan for a short-term stay (less than three months) for purposes including business and employment (continued from March 1)
(2) Foreign nationals newly entering Japan for a short-term stay for tourism (only when a travel agency among others organizing the trip serves as the receiving organization of the entrants) (started from June10)
(3) Foreign nationals newly entering Japan for a long-term stay (continued from March 1)
For further information of the New Border Measures (30), please refer to "Measures for Resuming Cross-Border Travel" page.From 0:00 am (JST) on June 1, 2022, based on the New Border Measures (28) Border measures to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) | Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (mofa.go.jp), on-arrival test, self-quarantine period and place of accommodation after entry into Japan may be changed according to the grouping ("Red", "Yellow" and "Blue" categories) of the countries/regions in which the entrants stayed within 14 days before the day of return to Japan or the day of application for landing on Japan and whether they obtain a valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate.

*1. Your isolation will be terminated if COVID-19 test is negative on the third day of isolation at the facility.
*2. Your isolation will be terminated if COVID-19 test is negative on the third day of isolation. You will be required quarantine for a total of 5 days if you do not take the test.

VISA application

Currently, all foreign nationals who wish to newly enter Japan need to apply for a VISA except for those with re-entry permit.
(1) A certificate for completion of Registration to the ERFS system obtained by a receiving organization (The 17th ASCPaLM 2022) through online application
(2) Please submit the registration completion certificate together with other visa application documents according to the purpose of your visit.
(Please refer to "Application for Visa for foreign nationals eligible for Phased Measures toward Resuming Cross-Border Travel" page for more details).

  • Applicant (or accompanier): date of birthday and other personal information
  • Applicant (or accompanier): upload your passport image
  • Flight information
  • Name of the accommodation
  • URL of accommodation(if it is a private home, please write the address and a contact name)

IMPORTANT!

*We do not promise to issue VISA documents to all the applicants.
*Please note that you will not receive the document if the E-mail address is not correct.
(2) Please submit the document at the Consular office of the Overseas Diplomatic Establishment located in each Country or Region and then apply for a VISA.
*As VISA and immigration information may change depending on the status of COVID-19 infection in Japan, please check the website of the Japanese Embassy or Consulate in your residence area for the latest news.

Before Departure

Pre-entry COVID-19 test

All those who enter Japan are requested to submit a certificate of negative test result of pre-entry COVID-19 test conducted within 72 hours prior to departing from your country/region.

From 0:00 AM (JST) on September 7 2022, all cross-border travelers and returnees with a valid vaccination certificate of COVID-19 will be no longer required to submit the certificate of negative test result of pre-departure COVID-19 test within 72 hours prior to departure from the original country/region.

Fast Track

You can shorten the quarantine procedure at the arrival airport by installing the designated smartphone application MySOS and submitting the following 4 items before departing from your country:
(1) Questionnaire
(2) Written pledge
(3) Vaccination Certificate
(4) A valid COVID-19 Test Certificate (image data)
* Fast Track pre-registration has to be completed no later than 6 hours before arrival.
